Terry (Potter) Melvin is a Helena Native. She studies painting with Irvin "Shorty" Shope as a Helena High student. Furthering her art education, she earned a Bachelor's degree in Art from Montana State University, Bozeman. After teaching art for a number of years, Terry continued her art career by working as a medical artist and illustrator for LSU and Tulane Medical Schools. Her extensive travels have produced paintings from all over the world. She has taught watercolor in Helena and her works have been shown in many locations throughout the western United States.
