Helena Parking Commission

HPC Mission Statement


The mission of the Helena Parking Commission is to adequately meet the needs of parking customers, merchants, employees, visitors, and residents of the Helena Parking District. It is the responsibility of the HPC to regulate and encourage the turnover of costumer spaces and to discourage abuse by long-term parkers, to assure that the system is accessible to handicapped individuals, and whenever possible, that parking should be located in places that will provide our parkers convenient access to Downtown shops, offices, residences, and recreational areas.

Goldie Coins
Goldie Coins are part of a Downtown Helena program to offset the cost of parking downtown and encourage active use of parking spaces and garages. Goldie Coins are purchased at a 20 percent discount in rolls of 40 for $8. Each goldie coin has a token value of $.025 at parking meters and day-use facilities. Goldie coins can be purchased at the HPC office, Sixth Avenue Ramp, and Getchell Garage.

Off-Street Parking Permits
Come into the office or call for more information on parking permits in lots and on certain streets.

Loading Zone Permits
Only vehicles with valid loading zone permits may park for 20 minutes in the designated loading zones downtown. Loading zones are posted with signs and the curbs are painted white. The fine for parking in a loading zone without a permit is $20. To apply, you must have proof of a City of Helena business license and provide the vehicle's make, model, and license number. The fee is $35 for the first vehicle and $15 for other vehicles owned by the same business.

Handicapped Parking Permits
Parking for individuals with a permanent or temporary disability is designated both on the street and in parking lots and garages. Spaces are signed and the universal symbol for handicapped access, painted blue. Only vehicles marked with a valid handicapped parking permit may park in these spaces. The fine for parking in these spaces without a permit is $100.
