About the event
The Helena and Lewis & Clark County landscape is rich in history. Commercial buildings, mansions, barns, schoolhouses, old roads, and mining properties supply a vivid and sometimes colorful glimpse into the county’s past. Old bridges are often taken for granted, but they tell stories about how the county developed, the evolution of different technologies to accommodate changing traffic demands, and the people who built and used them. Helena and Lewis & Clark County is fortunate to have a wide variety of different bridge types that tell that story. MDT Historian Jon Axline’s presentation will provide a glance into Helena and the county’s transportation heritage as told through bridges.
